walking around hfx for the first time in ages

A few years ago I was going through customs in Toronto or Montreal, and on my form I wrote "Hfx" instead of "Halifax" and the guy was like "Where the fuck is this, stupidhead" even though the province was also on the form, and where else in ns could hfx be? If I was in botswana or something sure, I would have written out halifax, but central canada knows where halifax is, whether they want to or not.
